TOM GREEN COUNTY 4-H SHOTGUN SHOOTING PROGRAM

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Tom Green County Shooting Sports will be awarding scholarships to an applicant whom has been an active member of the Shooting Sports Club.

The Shooting Sports Scholarship applies only for high school students (9th-12th). Eligibility in meeting scholarship criteria will begin each new school year and runs from September through August.

Scholarships will be awarded $500 per academic year starting with the 9th grade year based on Shooting Sports Scholarship's criteria. Applicants can earn up to a $2000 scholarship. $2000 is a ceiling maximum - the amount to be awarded is subject to change due to availability of funds.

Applicants may wait only one (1) calendar school year post high school graduation upon requesting to be awarded scholarship. After one (1) calendar school year all request for scholarship will be denied.

A high school student may apply for Shooting Sports Scholarship prior to their senior year if they have accelerated their education and graduate early.

Applicant must be attending an institution of higher education that is accredited (includes universities, 4-year and 2-year colleges, community colleges, trade schools and institutes).

All special circumstances, such as a medical illness, will be decided upon by the Executive Committee concerning eligibility in meeting scholarship eligibility.

Yearly records will be kept upon each shooting sports team member upon entry of their 9th grade year to keep records of each eligibility requirement. It is the responsibility of each team member to see that they fulfill each eligibility requirement each academic school year if they would like to be considered eligible for partial or full-amount of the scholarship to be awarded.

Each parent and student who is entering the 9th grade will be given a copy of the TOM GREEN COUNTY SHOOTING SPORTS scholarship requirements, so they will be fully aware of all requirements in meeting eligibility in being awarded a scholarship.

Applicant will supply the Scholarship Committee with a copy of a letter of acceptance and proof of enrollment as suitable evidence that the student will be attending an institution of higher learning. Scholarship funds will be delivered to the institution with a copy of receipt going to the student, and or guardian. An applicant may request to have a check made directly to them. Once the applicant has provided a copy of their paid receipt showing they are enrolled and  have paid for their tuition for the semester then a check will be written and made available to the applicant.

TOM GREEN COUNTY 4-H SHOTGUN PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

1. Eligible applicants must be an active member of the Tom Green County Shooting Sports program for at least a period of four (4) years at the time of graduation to be eligible for full amount of scholarship. To be considered for any scholarship less than the full amount there is a minimum of two (2) years as an active member.

2. Applicant should attend no less than 50% of club meetings per year.

3. Applicant must participate in (3) competition shoots as a club per year.

4. Applicant will participate in no less than 50% of all club fundraisers per year.

5. Applicant will participate in no less than 50% of all club workdays per year.

6. Applicant will complete three (3) hours community service per year. Documentation will be submitted to the Shooting Sports Scholarship Committee through documentation of service via director of agency where community service was provided or by sign in sheet if the community service was a shooting sports project.

7. Applicant must participate in (1) state level competition over 4-H career.

8. Applicant will submit a completed 4-H Recordbook to the Tom Green County 4-H office for two (2) years during the applicants 4 year high school career.

9. Applicant must maintain a passing grade point average in high school and submit a final high school transcript signed and validated by campus principal, guidance counselor, or school registrar.
